About
Lakou Capital
Lakou Capital promotes strategy education and investment to empower clients to make impact locally and globally.
Our founder, Dr. Howard Jean-Denis, is an entrepreneur, professor, investor and military veteran. His family is originally from the country of Haiti and through his upbringing he was sensitized to social issues around the world.
We are passionate about helping clients to develop sound strategy and facilitating investment into the brightest ideas that can address pressing issues. Dr. Jean-Denis' pathway into serving communities began through his military work and grassroots efforts managing a portfolio of clients for large banks before obtaining his PhD from UMASS Amherst.

Courses & Workshops
Lakou Capital offers dynamic courses and workshops focused on strategic planning, financial modeling, and leadership training. Our approach integrates educational content creation, strategy development, and investment facilitation to empower businesses and entrepreneurs in Haiti and globally. Through these tailored workshops, we equip leaders with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to drive sustainable growth and impactful investment decisions.
VISION
Lakou is a Haitian concept which was first manifested after the successful 1804 revolution. After victory, the formerly enslaved Haitians would build their houses typically surrounding a central courtyard. This physical courtyard served as a relational space for Haitians to meet, pray, and collaborate socially and financially with other families and friends (Desir, 2011; Jean-Denis, 2022). The vision of Lakou capital is to facilitate investment and education into Haitian entrepreneurs who are developing the country. Our organization will resemble a hybrid between an educational platform and a venture capital fund dedicated to Haitian startups. Lakou capital will provide educational and marketing content which will help these client firms develop their business models and perform valuations so that they are prepared to receive capital and grow. Our impact will be seen in the economic contributions and societal changes that the associated entrepreneurs will make in their communities. Furthermore, we are developing an investment network where any investor can invest directly into for-profit Haitian businesses or sectors with impactful ideas. Please contact us if you want to partner and support this vision.
